New Radio Station for Bro Ddyfi School

Broadcaster Hywel Gwynfryn will officially launch Bro Ddyfi’s School Radio on 21st May. The radio station has been on air for the past month with pupils responsible for producing and presenting their very own radi0 programmes. According to Headteacher Dafydd Brace Jones, the radio station is proving a real hit. Mr Jones said, ” the radio allows pupils to use the Welsh language naturally and provides a confidence boost in public speaking. We purchased the studio from Stiwdiobox and we are currently broadcasting three times a day – before the start of formal lessons in the morning, at breaktime and during the lunch hour. A number of Welsh learners have also broadcast programmes through the medium of Welsh and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I believe the radio station will prove to be a powerful tool with literacy skills – the Welsh department setting a task of creating a radio drama for key stage 3 pupils. We have also established a special email address, twitter and facebook account so that pupils can play requests on the radio”.
